Understanding fit scores
The score is 0–100. Values inside an application’s property window receive full credit. Values outside the window taper down across a tolerance band. A use-type mismatch reduces the score.

Understanding process badges
Green compatible with the current property profile. Yellow marginal or condition-dependent. Red likely incompatible without changing the profile or formulation.
Using the radar chart
The radar chart compares the current slider profile with the recommended grade. It is designed to show whether the user-selected profile is close to a practical commercial starting point.
Suggested contest demo script
- Open with the problem: material teams need a fast way to connect polymer properties to practical applications.
- Load an example, then move one or two sliders to show live ranking behavior.
- Point out the top application, displaced incumbent, process badges, and commercial/regulatory logic.
- Close by explaining that the JSON data model can be updated as new grades, applications, or market assumptions are validated.
Troubleshooting
- If the app says data could not be loaded, run it from GitHub Pages or a local server rather than double-clicking the file. Browser security can block local JSON fetches.
- If the chart does not appear, check that the Chart.js CDN script loaded successfully.
- If values look too preliminary, update the JSON files after confirming exact figures from current datasheets and market sources.
